Does size really matter?
Don’t get me wrong, I’m talking about the size of your handbags here, does it matter to you? I know choosing a bag can be really challenging as there are many factors you have to keep in mind when buying one like; design, brand, color, the clothing that you're going to wear with, Occasion, Shape, strap length and of course Size. And since Bags are the only accessory that could bring the whole outfit together, and we can’t go without, I thought of helping you out with 3 major points of consideration bag size, shape and strap length:
Bag Size:
Tall: You basically can carry any size, as long as it has the proper shape and strap length.
Small size: Always go for small to medium bags, depends on how small you are, Big bags will overwhelm you and make you look even smaller.
Big Size: You need a large bag and totally avoid tiny ones as they will be lost in the look.
General rule: The Size of your bag should correspond with your body size, it should never overwhelm your frame.
Bag Shape:
Tall and Thin: You should choose boho or any curvey bag to add some curves to your figure.
Short and Full: Play off opposites by choosing a handbag that is tall and rectangular or long and sleek (like a clutch) to make you look elevated, the rounder your figure, the more structured your bag should be.
Pear shaped women: Look amazing when they wear handbags that end above their waist and extend below their arm, avoid shoulder bag that ends around the hips or it will double your hip width.
Big size: You need a large structured or boxy bag to balance out your curves.
Big busted: Avoid Crossbody bags, they are difficult to carry off because the strap cuts right across the bustline.
General Rule: Always choose a shape that is the opposite of your body silhouette to avoid further emphasise on the parts where you need to distract.
Strap Length:
Tall and Thin: Avoid shoulder bags with a short strap as they will make you look even taller.
Small and Petite: Avoid shoulder bags with a long strap as they will weigh you down, making you look even shorter.
Big Size, full figured : You would need to make sure that your handbag is worn below the hips and it should even be below your shoulders.
Big Hips: Avoid putting the bag against the bulkiest part of your body, it will only make you look heavier.
Big busted, top-heavy: Go for straps that put the bag “waist-height” or slightly lower, Avoid Boho or short strapped bags.
Golden Rule: A shoulder bag's length (where the bottom of the bag hits your body) will accentuate whatever part of the body it comes near...Play it smart!
And to summit up; I would say the only thing worse than wasting your money is looking bad because of it....Before you hit the market, Know exactly what you are looking for and always try your bag in front of a full length mirror.
